Neil is a producer, composer and sonic facilitator known for his distinctive film and TV scores and his frequent collaborations with Massive Attack.
Hailing from Bristol, he originally studied art before becoming a regular in the emergent local music scene, where he honed his craft as a producer, engineer and composer. First working with Massive Attack in 1996, Neil produced and co-wrote their seminal albums Mezzanine, 100th Window and Heligoland, helping to sculpt and define their critically acclaimed cinematic sound.
Simultaneously, Neil has carved a career as a hugely respected media composer commencing with his score, co-written with Robert De Naja, for Louis Leterrier’s Unleashed in 2005. He has since scored a wealth of lauded features, documentaries (including the award-winning Trouble The Water), the fourth instalment of the enormous Halo video game franchise, and on both factual and drama TV series.
Neil’s other scores include the Left Bank Pictures, Windrush drama Sitting In Limbo, the nine-part football documentary series All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur for Amazon Studios/72 Films, the five-part nature series, Earth Moods for National Geographic / Disney+, fantasy drama series Britannia, and thriller The Fear Index based on Robert Harris’ book and starring Josh Hartnett.
Neil has recently completed the score, co-composing with Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante, for the forthcoming Apple TV+ drama series Criminal Record, starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo.
